It is so Important to remember that when regional Communities and Highway Traffic Departments finally decide to install widlife crosssings, they must build multiple "life path" structures at the agreed upon crossing point to provide connectivity for all species likely to use a given area(Little 2003)............ Different species prefer different types of structures (Clevenger et al. 2001; McDonald & St Clair 2004; Clevenger & Waltho 2005; Mata et al. 2005)................ For deer or other ungulates, an open structure such as a bridge is crucial................. For medium-sized mammals like black bears, and mountain lions, large box culverts with natural earthen substrate flooring are optimal (Evink 2002)...... The Politics surrounding Wolf Management could be turned into a daytime soap opera................First the Feds control everywhere in America,,,,,,,,,,,Then delisting occurs in parts of the Northern Rockies,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Then there is all types of back and forth as Listed or delisted with delisting up until now the Northern Rocky paradigm(except in the Northwest where some counties are delisted, some are not)...............Then voters in Michigan stop the 2014 hunt until a vote is taken to determine future killing plan(or not hopefully),,,,,,,,,,,And over the last month, the Red Wolf Recovery Program in North Carolina is being re-evaluated and could be dismantled..............And today, Wyoming is stripped of its management of Wolves until they at least provide a Montana/Idaho killing paradigm that allows 15 breeding pairs and 150 animals alive annually.............Note that this capricious "15 pairs/150 wolf paradigm does not have "anchor" as a scientific long term persistent recovery number,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Instead, this is what the Feds thought they could get accomplished when Wolves were first being rewilded to the Greater Yellowstone and Idaho region back in the mid 1990's...............A lousy compromise forged with ranching and hunting interests, with the Wolves "not given a vote" in this determination.....................So now we will see how long it will take for Wyoming to agree to the 15 breeding pair/150 wolf number,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,All this going on while the USFW folks are considering stripping all wolves across the USA of Protection,,,,,,,,,,,,,even though there is viable Wolf habitat across New England, the Appalachian spine and the south which is yet to be repopulated with Wolves(whether they be Gray/Red/Mexican)..........................Whether it be Wolf restoration or international geopolitics,climate change mitigation, job creation, education excellence, health care, immigration et al.................We seem so out of control and unable to forge timely and appropriate rules and actions that reflect our standing as the Leader of the World...................LETS GO USA,,,,, WE ROOT FOR YOU TO ONCE AGAIN BE THE DECISIVE QUARTERBACK AND FRANCHISE # 4 HITTER IN THE LINEUP, reaching informed, educated and "feel right" decisions that the rest of the world will embrace to optimize life here on Planet Earth

A landmark settlement in 2011 between the Center For Biological Diversity and the Fish and Wildlife Service set legally binding deadlines for the Service to make protection decisions for 757 species around the country. ...........To date, 137 species have gained Endangered Species Act protection as the result of the agreement, and another six have been proposed for protection...........The agreement also allows the Center to seek expedited protection decisions for 10 additional species per year when the agency has missed legal deadlines................ The Alexander Archipelago wolf was one of this year’s 10......................Heavily reliant on old-growth forests in Alaska, , Alexander Archipelago wolves den in the root systems of very large trees and hunt mostly Sitka black-tailed deer, which are themselves dependent on high-quality, old-growth forests, especially for winter survival................. A long history of clearcut logging on the Tongass and private and state-owned lands has devastated much of the wolves’ habitat on the islands of southeast Alaska............. The Forest Service continues to hold timber sales in important wolf habitat..................Let us see if the Feds show the proper empathy for these Wolves and get them the protection they need to persist into the forever
