The Gulf Oil Spill has revealed(or reinforced) in many of us the fact that the notion that technology is the answer to all of lifes ills, obstacles and ultimate pleasures is darn right false.
You blow a hole in the earths crust and by god, you might just not ever plug it properly when it leaks!
You introduce a pesticide to kill a certain bug...............and lo and behold that bug eventually finds a way to develop an immunity and pass on that resistance to its offspring--resulting in SUPERBUGS that now need even more potent poisons to kill them!
You develop medicines to mitigate or minimize diseases................and you spend 20 seconds of every 30 second tv spot warning folks of the side effects of the medicine....................seemingly the medicine causes more problems than the cure!
As Carly Simon said in her famous 1970's song: "We rip up paradise and put up a parking lot"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Now we are genetically manipulating salmon so that they grow herculean in size.................you know darn well that some of these "freaks" are going to escape into our rivers and oceans and potentially mate with natures salmon...................oh, to what disaster that may ripple across the environment................how wil those salmon "X-MEN" tear negatively into the circle of life?....................
Why do we continue to make the same mistake over and over again? How in good name can we call this progress when time and time again our chemistry and geneology manipulations lead to environmental contamination and degradation?
Sucks that we are so greedy and so quick to dismiss nature as quaint and "out-of-touch" with our sophisticated brains..........................We ultimately are stupid creatures, the only species to purposely foul it's nest!
