Interesting discovery by Puma biologist Mark Elbroch regarding how Andean Condors in South America harass the " big cats" off of their kills in open grasslands,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,a process that allows the birds to have hearty meals while causing the Pumas to kill twice as many animals as their North American counterparts to stay alive and prosper...........When the Pumas kills their favorite prey(the camel-like Guanaco) in the forest, they get to dine unmolested as the Condors are not able to swoop down through the thick over/understory of the woodlands.................Elbroch also postulates that the historical intense hunting pressure that human ranchers brought to bear on the Pumas also might add into the the skittishness the Pumas display when out in the open being bombarded by the Condors.............While the Cats have to kill more, they are providing valuable protein for 16 additional animal and bird species in the South American system
