My friend Carmel Severson shared a moving essay on the natural world and our obligation to allow it thrive into the millenia------ Written and delivered by Victoria poet Patrick Lane who received an honorary doctor of letters degree from the University of Victoria on Nov. 13............ Lane, is the winner of the Governor General’s Literary Award and numerous other honors............He has written 25 volumes of poetry as well as fiction and non-fiction............. He is known for what the university called the “gritty honesty” of his style................
