The inquiring mind of George Wuerthner astutely identifying a flaw in the carnivore management philosophy of the GREATER YELLOWSTONE COALITION, who seem to be yielding a tad to quickly to the whims of the Wyoming, Montana and Idaho Wolf killing paradigm

Subject: What is wrong with GYC?

Dear Caroline

I just read GYC's alert for wolves asking me to support a reduction in wolf trapping and killing just north of Yellowstone. Reduction? What is that about? Why is any trapping or hunting of wolves legitimate?

I won't sign the letter because there is absolutely no reason to support any trapping or killing of wolves.

Why isn't GYC pointing out that killing wolves disrupts their social ecology and create more conflicts. That killing wolves is unethical and "waste" of wildlife and counter to every ethical consideration about wildlife?

Why isn't GYC pointing out that predators--all predators do not need "management" and alerting GYC membership how lame these state agencies are for allowing any killing of wolves? Why doesn't GYC point out that wolves self regulate themselves. And why aren't I reading editorials in the papers by GYC officials including yourself pointing all this out?

I can assure you that you would be on good biological footing by opposing all trapping and hunting. Why give any legitimately to MDFWP policies when they are so biologically corrupt?
