I came across a new word today that describes perfectly the state of our environment in an age of Global Warming/Rapid Population Growth and Technology Leap-----Noosphere \ NOH-uh-sfeer \ , noun: -- the biosphere including and modified by such human activities as agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry, urbanization, and industrialization.........Christopher Solomon's article in the OPINION PAGES of the July 6 NY TIMES entitled THE WILDERNESS ACT IS FACING A MIDLIFE CRISIS postulates the possible need to amend the Wilderness Act to allow man to manage the square miles that by law state that "man himself is just a visitor there"..........Do we plant certain trees and move animal species to where we believe they will best survive within designated Wilderness?????? Do we infuse the gene pool of certain endangered species with others of their species if population extirpation is imminent???????.......Or do we find the will to set aside even larger core open space with interconnected corridors so that animal and plant species have the ability to migrate so as to "weather the impacts" of our severely altered NOOSPHERE?..........I DO NOT THINK "ONE SIZE FITS ALL"...........PERHAPS ALL OF THESE POSSIBLE PARADIGMS ALONG WITH US HUMAN ANIMALS TRYING TO BETTER COEXIST WITH NATURE'S DESIGN IS THE ANSWER---click on link below to read Solomon's full article
