A 16 year wildlife re-introduction of Lynx(transplanted from Canada and Aaska) in the San Juan Mountains of southwestern Colorado is being captured on trail cams throughout this region.......200-300 Lynx are thought to exist at this time with the first reproducing animals having had kittens in 2003 four years after initial introduction.......The Lynx have been reproducing successfully since then..... They mostly live in spruce and fir forests above 9,000 feet elevation...........Colorado Parks & Wildlife hope to monitor the health and habits of the Lynx over the next 8 years via the use of some 124 of these trail cameras
