There has been a lot written on the takeover of the Oregon Wildlife Refuge by so-called "patriots" wanting control over public lands............Nancy Langston, a professor of environmental history at Michigan Technological University wrote a New York Times Op Ed piece that provides context and perspective regarding this "sagebrush rebellion"------------"Before the federal agencies came,, we(ranchers) lived in paradise"............. "The grass was thick, the water was abundant and the towns were thriving"........... "We(ranchers) were independent, working out our problems"............. "When the feds came, they stole our resources, and our economies collapsed"............ "The implication was clear: If they(ranchers) got rid of the federal government, they’d have control over their land and lives again"........... This version of history bears little resemblance to the actual past"------READ THE FACTS BELOW IN THE FULL ARTICLE TO SEE HOW THESE RANCHERS HAVE SELECTIVE AND FAULTY MEMORIES
