Published on Mar 28, 2017, the attached utube (informative and illuminating) talk by our friend and Nature Writer Chris Bolgiano "describes how destructive logging in the Southern Appalachian Mountains in the early 20th century has resulted today in 6 million acres in 8 national forests that offer an enormous regional benefit to mitigate climate change via carbon sequestration by aging trees"............. "Because these national forests are publicly owned as a commons, the public stands to benefit(into the millenia ahead) from management that recognizes the uniquely important Appalachian CARBON COMMONS"

Hi, Rick, hope you are well!

Below is a link to my 12 minute PowerPoint YouTube presentation, "National Forests and The Great Appalachian Carbon Commons," that i recently gave at the Appalachian Studies Assoc. conference at VaTech.

Southern Appalachian National Forest lands in green

It presents revolutionary new research on the carbon sequestration strength of aging and old-growth forests, focused on the 8 Appalachian national forests but applicable everywhere.

If you find it useful, feel free to send it on to anyone you think might be interested.  All best, -c
