While Female Pumas have not yet been documented in this modern era wandering east out of the Dakotas into the midwest, nine months ago, a female British Columbia, Canada Puma made a 450 trek into the Helena Valley region of Montana.............The 2 year old lion regularly traveled through forested shelterbelts around farms and ranches, unbeknownst to people living there and not bothering anyone..............A 2nd female out of British Columbia has also made it into the USA, this one roaming the Yaak in northern Montana............So, it appears that female Pumas just might have wanderlust to greater degrees than previously doumented...............Just as the ongoing Teton Cougar Study has revealed that Pumas do socialize and are not the strict hermits that we thought them to be, now we see females up and about "stepping large" outside their natal birthplaces..................Stop hunting them in the Dakotas so that both males and females have a more optimum chance of moving to the midwest and east coast as breeders,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Yellowstone to Yukon linkages as well as Dakotas to Great Lakes and Great Lakes to New England and the Appalachian Spine----That is the work we need to accomplish in our lifetime to bring back THE HEALTHY WILD AMERICA THAT inspired our forefathers to create a Country of freedom and opportunity like no other..........
