Florida panther killed on US-41 in Collier County
COLLIER COUNTY: A Florida panther was struck and killed by a vehicle on US-41 in Collier County Friday, according to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.
The 3-year-old female panther was found dead on US-41 about two miles east of Monroe Station.
This is the twelfth panther killed in a vehicle collision in 2010 and fifteenth panther death overall, according to the FWC.--15% of the total population in Florida..............too many for this minescule population!!--blogger Rick
The carcass will be taken to the FWC Wildlife Research Lab in Gainesville for a necropsy.
