Maine’s coyote night

It is legal to hunt coyotes from a half-hour
after sunset until a half-hour before sunrise
during the nine-month season.

Maine’s season for hunting coyotes at night is about to
 begin.

The coyote night hunt runs from Monday until Aug. 31,
2015. It is legal to hunt coyotes from a half-hour after
sunset until a half-hour before sunrise during the night
 hunting season. Hunting coyotes on Sundays is not
allowed as the hunt is closed from midnight Saturdays
 to 12:01 a.m. on Mondays.

There is also a daytime hunting season for coyotes
which is year round. Neither season is subject to a
bag limit.

State officials say there are at least 12,000 coyotes
 living throughout Maine.
