Aqutaq is the name of a four year-old female white wolf (aka arctic wolf) who lives in Marin County, California with owner Oliver Starr.............. Aqutaq is not wild, but she certainly isn’t a pet..............She was purposefully bred in captivity and raised to be an “ambassador wolf” for Starr’s ongoing advocacy for the protection of wolf species............A fellow Blog reader, Oliver recently gave a talk on the need for buffer zones to protect Wolves that roam outside Park Borders.............An excellent follow up to our recent posting regarding Alaska failing to keep in place a protective buffer around Denali National Park in Alaska,,,,,,,,,,,Denali's Wolf population has cratered to less than 50 animals with a key reason being the legal shooting and trapping of the animals as they wander out of the Park...............Oliver, thanks for bringing your insights to us readers
