Grizzly bears, black bears, wolves, coyotes, cougars/ mountain lions, bobcats, wolverines, lynx, foxes, fishers and martens are the suite of carnivores that originally inhabited North America after the Pleistocene extinctions. This site invites research, commentary, point/counterpoint on that suite of native animals (predator and prey) that inhabited The Americas circa 1500-at the initial point of European exploration and subsequent colonization. Landscape ecology, journal accounts of explorers and frontiersmen, genetic evaluations of museum animals, peer reviewed 20th and 21st century research on various aspects of our "Wild America" as well as subjective commentary from expert and layman alike. All of the above being revealed and discussed with the underlying goal of one day seeing our Continent rewilded.....Where big enough swaths of open space exist with connective corridors to other large forest, meadow, mountain, valley, prairie, desert and chaparral wildlands.....Thereby enabling all of our historic fauna, including man, to live in a sustainable and healthy environment. - Blogger Rick

In 1998, I had the great privlidge of befriending Wildlife Photographer and Storyteller, Marty Stouffer.......His Emmy Award winning WILD AMERICA ran for 12 years on PUBLIC TELEVISION aggregating 120 of the finest American wildlife episodes ever to air on tv........I ended up selling the WILD AMERICA library episodes to tv stations around the USA and they continue to air on the weekends across the Country to this day(check your local listings)......... The music for the first 35 episodes of Wild America was written by Neil Argo (P.J., MacGyver, Beverly Hills 90210)............. Later various composers were hired to write music for other episodes but Argo remained the lead composer of the show............... Argo recorded the first three episodes with musicians from the Wichita, Kansas, symphony................ Not completely satisfied with the performances, he switched to the Denver Center for the Performing Arts and recorded the rest of his scores with musicians from the Denver Symphony............. Argo's music captured the beauty and character of American Wildlife.............Now this music is available to all of you this October 2015 from Kronos Records(you can order by clicking on the link below)......... The cd also features some music selections by two of the other composers that wrote music for Wild America; John Murtaugh & Peter Kater....................... The music for Wild America is sure to appeal to fans of the show but not only............. The album is a beautiful listening experience and this grand, majestic score will take you on a beautiful journey.............. Randall Larson's informative liner notes accompany this title........... The CD is a limited edition so make sure to Pre-order your copy now!
