Research being done on the Grizzly Bears of Banff National Park in Canada is revealing new and previously unknown data about their social behavior.............Grizzlies can live to be 30 years old and many older males toward the end of their lifespan continue to mate and sire healthy cubs......Important information that will help biologists better manage the bears and not automatically think it ok to allow hunters to target these veteran "male producers"..........Female Grizzlies with cubs of the year will often "get together" and in effect have "play dates" with their cubs..............It is thought that the coming together of these family groups offers protection against wandering males who will look to kill cubs so as to bring the adult female back into heat...................
